Brakes
Powell Ag Tire does brake work on cars, pickups and SUVs at the shop in Scottsville. If the brakes squeal, grind, pulse or feel soft, call and describe what you hear and feel.

What the signs usually mean
- A high squeal
- Often the wear indicator on the pads, built in to warn that they are getting thin.
- Grinding
- Usually pads worn through, with metal reaching the rotor. The sooner it is looked at, the less it tends to take.
- A pulsing pedal
- Often rotors that are no longer flat.
- A soft or sinking pedal
- Can point to air or a leak in the brake lines. Have it looked at before driving far.
- Pulling when you brake
- Can be a sticking caliper or uneven pads.

What to tell Dustin
- The year, make and model
- What you hear and when: stopping, turning, or all the time

Questions people ask
Do you do engine or transmission work?
No. The shop works on tires, brakes, alignment, steering, suspension, struts and tie rods, and does oil changes. Engine and transmission work is not something it takes on.
What should I have ready when I call?
The tire size off the sidewall and any brand you have in mind. For a farm call, where the machine is. For a car or truck, the year, make and model.
