Signs it is time for new tires

  • Tread worn down level with the wear bars across the grooves
  • Bulges, deep cracks or cuts in the sidewall
  • A slow leak that keeps coming back
  • Tires that slip on wet pavement or gravel
  • Uneven wear: one edge, or patches around the tire

Two tires or four

Tires on the same axle should match. Whether two will do or it is time for four depends on how worn the others are and what you drive. Say how many you think you need, and talk it through on the call.

Uneven wear is a clue

A tire worn on one edge often points to the alignment, and cupped or patchy wear can point to struts or balance. Replacing the tires without fixing the cause wears the new set the same way, so mention any odd wear when you call.

Questions people ask

What should I have ready when I call?

The tire size off the sidewall and any brand you have in mind. For a farm call, where the machine is. For a car or truck, the year, make and model.

Are Road Force balancing and computer tire diagnostics the same thing?

At this shop they are one machine and one process. The Hunter Road Force balancer measures the wheel and the tire, loads the tire with a roller the way the road does, and shows whether a vibration can be corrected by turning the tire on the wheel. With the roller off, it works as a standard balancer.
